Cassette From My Ex

“I was an Asian guy with long hair who was into Heavy Metal; she was a Latvian dancer who liked to chain-smoked Camels. We met in Mr. Dennis’ Orchestra class at North Central High School. We both played violin, and we both had unusual names: Felix and Dzintra.”

Part of a book anthology that started as a website, Cassette From My Ex gathers stories from people who reminisce about the long gone era of cassette mix tapes. In addition to sharing the actual mix tape songs, each story also provides a glimpse into those early days when music and romance were being discovered at the same time.

I found this project here.

Horse Sense Fence

Interested in how over coddled we’ve become, the Silver Dobermans created this piece, Horse Sense Fence. They have put a warning sign on every single barb of this fence.

This guy specialized in the study of invertebrate animals with an emphasis on squid brains. Squid brains, people! And he’s making beautiful images like these. So inspiring to me.

While that works for some, I know that I most definitely depend on all my creative outlets (photography, jewelry crafting, music, etc.) to inspire me and keep me feeling creatively fresh, focused and driven. “You have to utilize who you are in your work.”

Great talk by David Carson. Worth the watch whether or not you’re in the field of Graphic Design.
